Sybil and Keith are still working incredibly hard organising and running ringing events to raise more money for the bell fund.

On Thursday 19th June a performance was given for the members and helpers of the Hertford Disability Group at the Red Cross Hall. The reception was good, and there were plenty of volunteers to help the ringers.

On Saturday 21st June Les and Wendy Hickford ran another quiz for us in the Parish Centre, fundraising for bells. We managed to fill the hall again, and raised about £600.Thanks to everyone for your help selling tickets and on the night.

The paper quiz 'Musical Magic' run by Mary was again a very successful money maker. We sold well over 300 quiz sheets, mainly due to Helen’s endeavours at the National Rally!
We received 42 completed entries, just over 10% of the total sold. There was just one fully correct entry but, because the standard was so high, we decided to award a second prize by drawing lots among the near-misses. After taking out £15 for prizes, the quiz made £357 for the Refurbishment Fund.

Thanks to all who took part, whether by selling sheets or by photocopying. Mary will, we hope, be producing another one in the Autumn.

The U3A concert at the Civic Hall on 14th July, to celebrate 10 years since the Lee Valley group was formed saw the Broxbourne HBR who are members of U3A performing for the assembled masses. A member of the audience commented on the marked improvement since last hearing the team at St Mary's Christmas concert 3 years ago!

Several Early Birds will be helping Sybil run a workshop for the New River Womens' Club on 28th August, but there's room for more. it starts at 8.15, for about an hour.

There are plans to hold a wine tasting in September/October, but we need more ideas so get thinking and organising!

The fund currently stands at £2662, which leaves £2343 to find. We are over half way in 7 months, which is really great, but there’s still a long way to go.
